Welcome to our Penny Lane Labradors Adoption Process 🐾
At Penny Lane Labradors, our mission is to provide families with more than just a beautiful puppy, we strive to give you a happy, healthy family member who will grow alongside your family and become a lifelong companion. While no breeder can promise a puppy will be completely free from health issues for their entire life, (if one does, run! Because no one can ever make such a promise in a living being.. we CAN promise that we have taken every step possible to breed and raise confident, healthy, and well-socialized Labradors. We believe that anyone can have a litter, but our goal is to preserve the integrity of the Labrador breed, maintaining its classic structure, temperament, and soundness, while producing puppies who will thrive as family pets, therapy dogs, or service animals.
Our Home & Environment 🏡
Our puppies are raised inside our home, surrounded by our young children, an house full of Labradors, and Maine Coon cats. This environment exposes them to the sights, sounds, and routines of family life from the very beginning. By being part of a busy household, our puppies develop confidence, and strong social skills, all while learning the foundations of proper interaction with people, children, and other animals.
We believe that raising puppies in a loving home rather than a kennel is key to producing friendly, adaptable, and emotionally healthy dogs. Daily exposure to family life, combined with structured play and enrichment, allows each puppy to develop a well-rounded personality. They learn how to explore their environment safely, engage in positive interactions with humans and animals, and transition more smoothly to their new families.
Health Testing
Every Penny Lane Labrador comes from championship lines with comprehensive health testing to ensure the strongest possible foundation for a long, healthy life. Our adult dogs are evaluated using:
- Full genetic panels to detect carriers of hereditary conditions
- OFA hips & elbows
- Cardiac (heart)
- OFA Eyes (most have been tested now, and those that haven’t will be done soon)
- OFA Patellas (knees)
Early Development 🩺
From the moment puppies are born, we focus on optimal development and early socialization. Puppies are started on a premium diet with age-appropriate supplements to support growth, immune system health, and overall vitality.
In addition, we implement Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Socialization
- Exposure to different textures, surfaces, and objects to enhance tactile development
- Variety of household and environmental sounds, including vacuum cleaners, doorbells, and general family activity
- Playback of thunderstorms, fireworks, and other potentially startling noises via Bluetooth speakers, in a safe and positive manner
This careful and intentional stimulation is crucial for confident, well-adjusted adult dogs, teaching them to experience the world without fear or anxiety. Puppies raised with these methods tend to be more curious, adaptable, and resilient, which sets them up for lifelong success in their new homes.

Visits & Safety
We do welcome visits, but they are reserved for families who have placed a holding fee and only after pups are 7 weeks old. This protects our puppies from exposure to illnesses like Parvo, and keeps our home safe. For families unable to visit in person, we provide FaceTime and phone calls, allowing you to see your puppy’s personality and interact virtually. We also encourage prospective families to review our testimonials and references on the Penny Lane Labradors Facebook page. These provide insight into our commitment to health, temperament, and careful puppy placement.
Our Selection Process 🐕
Our selection process at Penny Lane Labradors is unique. We’ve seen two common methods: either families choose based on the order of deposits, which often leads to choices based solely on appearance, or the breeder picks the puppy for you, leaving families out of the decision completely. Neither method seemed ideal to us. We do something a little different. Bringing a puppy home is a huge decision, and we believe families should be involved.
We don’t start selection until puppies are 7 weeks old, allowing their personalities to fully develop. Families can interact through video and FaceTime calls up until that point, and choose their 3 favorite pups. We discuss your lifestyle and the puppies' personalities and the final match is made by us, considering all aspects of compatibility. Our goal is to ensure the best fit for both the puppies and their new families, giving you and your pup the best chance at success. You are part of every step of the discussion, and we take pride in our careful matchmaking and commitment to the well-being of each puppy. After selections are made, you are welcome to come visit your puppy in person.
Pricing (Updated Jan 1, 2025) 💰
- Pet Price (Limited Registration): $3,000
- Breeding Rights (Full Registration): $4,500
Our pricing reflects the quality of our dogs and the care we put into raising them. Many of our puppies go on to become beloved family pets, therapy dogs, or service dogs, showcasing their well-rounded temperament, confidence, and adaptability.
Our puppies are usually reserved before they are born, so to secure a spot on our waiting list, we do recommend placing a $500 holding fee and officially joining our waitlist. If you are getting an available pup that is already born, the deposit is then $1000. This of course goes toward the purchase price of your puppy and while the holding fee is non-refundable, it can transferred to another litter if something comes up or there aren’t enough pups in the color or gender you are wanting. I can not hold a puppy for you or hold your place in line until the moment a deposit is placed. I have done this many times only for a family to change their mind last minute, which isn’t fair to me or the families I turn away in the meantime.
Here are a few reasons why we have this policy, and things to consider before committing to a puppy from us.
- Respecting Our Time and Effort:
Raising puppies requires round-the-clock care, socialization, and veterinary attention. In addition to caring for our dogs, we're also raising three young children. Every call, update, text, or email takes time away from them, and our time is valuable.
- Avoiding Flippant Decisions:
We've experienced situations where families change their minds at the last minute, leaving us with puppies past 8 weeks of age. This forces us to start the vetting process all over again, which delays the puppies from finding their forever homes. This costs us time, money, and causes other families that I had sent away thinking that puppy was spoken for, to miss out.
- Supporting Responsible Ownership:
Welcoming a puppy into your life is a lifelong commitment. Our non-refundable installment payment encourages families to make thoughtful decisions, promoting responsible pet ownership.
